Short answer is no! No child is too old to change their habits. However, the older the child, the longer the process generally takes. If you have a baby over 1 year old who already has very engrained sleep habits (especially ones you are hoping to change), I will likely recommend at least a two week package so we can work together each night to slowly transition him/her. But with enough patience and consistency, any child is a candidate for successful sleep!
Will I be asked to let my baby Cry It Out (CIO)?
Of course not!! The sleep training technique known as Cry It Out is often associated with letting a baby cry for hours alone in their crib. That image is heartbreaking to any parent and here at The Dream Queen I would NEVER ask you to do such a thing! Instead, I teach parents that there are different levels of crying and to learn your baby's cries as a form of their communication. If baby is really upset, tend to them! I will review what different types of cries mean and how to best respond to each one. If you want to review different types of sleep training methods, check out my Instagram post!
How much does it cost? Do you offer discounts?
Each package varies in price and can be found HERE. Occasionally you will find discounts posted on my social media during a few sale periods/year. However even my normal pricing is considerably less than most other sleep consultants!
It seems expensive. Is sleep training worth it?
Absolutely. If you are as sleep-deprived and exhausted as I was with my first baby, you will be shocked how quickly the consult pays for itself in saved time and energy. You will be grateful you made the investment once you and your child are finally sleeping better! I know I felt my consultation was 1000% worth it because I had my sanity back! Still, I aim to be as affordable as possible, and offer prices considerably less than other sleep consultants, but have even more successful results! Not yet convinced? What if I don't agree with the sleep consultant's suggestions?
That's the great thing about advice, it's just that, advice! Anything you don't agree with, you don't have to follow. That said, communicating your boundaries and expectations early on will allow me to come up with a plan that DOES work for you. This is of course the goal! Then the more consistently you follow the plan, the quicker you will see results!
How long does sleep training take to be effective?
This is different for every situation. If you are beginning the sleep training process with a 6-month-old baby and are ready to dive in, you will likely see results within a few days! If you are trying to change the habits of a toddler who has been having sleep troubles for awhile, the process will be longer. Generally I say it takes 7-10 days to see progress, though some families see results in just a few days, while for others it may take several weeks to fully reach their sleep goals. Long-term success requires long-term consistency, with the more consistent you are early-on leading to faster results. Of course at The Dream Queen I am here to support you every step of the way!
